Do you yearn to immerse yourself in the unfolding life of a gorgeous Tuscan village with its roots in agriculture and viticulture? One which has a fascinating history, a cultural identity of its own and which offers you the opportunity to explore past glories and present triumphs?

You’ll see Montalcino from the valley, resting along the crest of a high ridge.  Winding upwards through the Tuscan hills, when at last you reach the gates of Montalcino, you’ll find yourself 564 metres above sea level with stupendous views over the surrounding valleys.

Montalcino tower houses.JPG (15576 bytes) Montalcino is an ancient fortified medieval village whose economy in the modern world is reliant on the traditions of its  agricultural past – grain, olive oil and beekeeping – and by the production of the internationally renowned wine, il Brunello di Montalcino.

Earn an unforgettable experience by living here and opening your mind to the treasures inside these walls. Plan to come for at least a week, but try and come for two.

You can spend time walking through the Tuscan hills, or bike riding through the vineyards to an ancient abbey, and can you be here on a Sunday when we go up to the football ground below the fortress to cheer our team to victory?

At certain times of year you can participate in village festivals and even a competitive and challenging footrace around the walls. You'll need a couple of hours to visit our museum which holds paintings, sculptures and relics authenticating our history.

You will not be isolated at Montalcino. You are just 40 klm south of Siena and you have comfortable access to the most glorious destinations in Tuscany,  Umbria and Lazio in less than an hour!

PS:  Don’t fall into the trap of believing summer is the only season to visit because I can promise you unbelievable beauty in spring, in autumn, and even in winter.
