MONTALCINO GROCERIES & FRUIT SHOP

Food, Glorious Food!

Remember the times when we had corner grocers who stocked produce in hessian bags and tins with lids, sliced your ham while you watched and cut the bread loaf in half if you didn’t want it all? And fruit shops that stacked wooden trays of mandarins against the wall and sold dried peas, sultanas and dates by the weight?

We’ve still got them in Montalcino – here are just a couple!

Alimentari Parisi Antonio.jpg (150834 bytes)

Antonio 1.JPG (30750 bytes) At an alimentari you can buy everything you need for your picnic in the Tuscan hills, or that lazy afternoon gazing over the surrounding valleys from your terrace. Velia and Antonio carry a terrific range of local produce like Montalcino’s own Olive Oil and Honey, salami, prosciutto and cheeses, crusty Tuscan bread, olives and anchovies, and of course sweet treats like jars of hazelnuts in honey.

Frutta e Verdura

Laura.jpg (165616 bytes) Besides all the freshest fruit and vegetables in season in Italy right now, you’ll delight at the sacks of spices, jars of nuts, bags of dried herbs, trays of fresh dates and bottles of glazed ginger and pineapple. Here you'll find an amazing range of oriental produce too – in case you desperately need a simple stir-fry to stop you over indulging in the delicious Tuscan cuisine.
